wow...would think she would be more concerned about where the money went especially if the check was cashed. Commonsense would have been to cancel check no one would have gotten the money then issue a new one and hand deliver to you somehow to guarantee you got the money...

But as for tonight at the meeting, do go!!! Do not let her get under your skin. If she comes up to you that's fine. You can shake and have all the anxiety you normally do but remember when you actually talk to her not to scream but to talk your side of the truth , don't put blame on her or yourself just make it sound like a mutually inconvenience for both of you and that you would like to come to some sort of agreement to have this problem not come up again. That's all. (and personally I would ask to meet her from now on directly to make sure you get the check, just in case your folks by some chance do have problems with her and you don't know about it)

That way it limits a middle man and you can guarantee you get your check.

Good luck and don't quit because of some secretary...

Thank you... I need some kind of encouragement to go to the meeting, because my parents were offering none. Especially since my mother refuses to go...
I think I'll go tonight.

The problem is that I'm scared to go because I know she will take me away from everyone else and tear me apart.

I wish someone could be there with me so that she would at least have some modesty... I'm only a sixteen year old girl. I simply want my money for my drive up there. I don't want a fight.

Just tell her that, don't back down and just calmly tell her your piece. If she has any sense she'll do so without causing a scene.. If not, I would make sure to confront her in front of the club.

Like I said in the chat, if you're professional about it and she is the one who blows up first...She's the idiot, and she's the one who's going to look bad. I'm with Drum, as usual. Lol

Pssh.I didn't pick up the wrong lead
It's called a counter canter...
...A very advanced maneuver.

I would go to the meeting and have some questions for her in mind.

1--Has the check cleared the bank?
2--Who dropped the check off at the tack store?
3--Who accepted said check at the tack store?
4--If check has cleared bank may I see cancelled check or copy of said check to prove I did not sign it?

Ask these questions in public in front of as many people as possible. You are not required to go anywhere with anyone you are not comfortable with. I don't care if she is an adult and thinks she rules, you are allowed to tell her NO! Stand your ground no matter what. It is okay to cry and shake in front of someone so confrontational as she appears to be. Just do it in front of other people so you have witnesses of her bullying.

I agree with Drum, say something in front of someone or everyone. That way there are witnesses, don't let her take you aside. Either she is hiding something or feels she can intimidate you by getting you alone.

Thank you the very helpful advice.

I will confront her with these questions during the meeting tonight. I know I will not back down and let her walk all over me and not receive the check.

Okay so I just received some disturbing news. Apparently she has done this before. A friend of my brother's made it to nationals and the club voted to pay for him. All of the members, but the secretary refused to write him a check so therefore, he had to pay for his gas.
I know Nationals was close but that is still very unacceptable.
