I love goin to rodeos. I was basically raised at them, both of my parents rodeo in them my dad was a bull rider my mom was a barrel racer and they did a bit of team ropin on the side. There is a whole lot of RUDE people at rodeos but I've gotten use to it by now. The first rodeo I went to I won first place in barrels, saddle set(saddle headstall stirrups breastcollar and a pad), buckle and jacket. I was like 7 and I didn't really get what all the craziness was about but I do now haha. Rodeos are my life and i'm going to end up dying riding my horse :) Posted via Mobile Device
Team Penning, I admire, it takes lots of practice and talent to work as a team and swing that steer around from the head so the heels fly up for the heeler to catch.
That would be called team ROPING ... not team penning (which is is completely different event and seen only at ranch rodeos but not at PRCA rodeos).

I've done that LOTS back when I was doing the rodeo queening. I really miss that part of it! It was so much fun to get to carry the sponsor flags and cruise around the arena in front of the crowd. And always such an honor to get the opportunity to carry in the American flag for the national anthem.
I have not gotten the opportunity to enter a PRCA rodeo yet as I am focusing on grad school right now, but hopefully in a couple years! And queening is a full-time job on its own. You can't take your queening role seriously if you want to barrel race at the rodeos you also queen at; it just doesn't work. You have too many obligations to do as a queen that you need to do ONLY that when you make an appearance at a rodeo.
I've done lots of family rodeos, horse shows, barrel races, etc but have never gotten to barrel race for the WPRA yet.
