Womens Ranch Rodeo

Well I just have brag a little....

We went to a womens ranch rodeo last weekend and placed second overall.

We had to compete in 5 events...

1.) Team penning
2.) Wild Cow Milking (they couldn't get lactating heifers or cows, so we just had to rip a sale tag glued onto a steers belly, I guess you can't milk a steer??? )
3.) Doctoring/Branding
4.) Steer Dragging
5.) Trailer Loading

I was bummed to find out there was no photographer....there was some good wrecks and some really good runs..the cattle were fresh and tough!

There is a Womens Ranch Rodeo Association sanctioned rodeo in May close by. We are thinking of entering and seeing if we are tough enough to go "pro"...lol.

Here is the link to the website if any of you gals are interested in joining a team or learning more about it....Women's Ranch Rodeo Association

What no bronc riddin? Way to go. I wish you would have taken some pictures. I hope you wore your flat brimmed hat with pride and showed those rubber dalliers how it's supposed to be done!

You should have told him any team roper can let his horse take the jerk but it takes a hand to stop em easy! Or were they the hard and fast variety?

Nice! That sounds like a lot of fun.

I recently discovered there are some team pennings within a reasonable distance. I always thought that would be a blast, considering we sometimes do "team penning" when my parents cattle really, really, really do not want to turn at the crossroads to get to their summer pasture..... ranch rodeo indeed!

^^^ LOL!

I have never done team penning before these rodeos. The only time I seen it, I watched three people blow down to the herd and scatter cattle everywhere! And I thought- that was stupid, why would they do that???
It is kinda of a cross from Team Penning and working cattle rodear style. You are not allowed to get out of a trot in the herd.

It is different seeing the girls out there roping and mugging while the husbands and boyfriends are in the bleachers or fetching hamburgers and beer for their girls!
