Ropinbiker, you should get the wife out and get pics!!!

My family (grandparents and us) have a bit of a tradition that the girls and women that rope get to rope at brandings and men are put to work on the ground. The other ropers are just friends as me and my mom are the only girls in the family that rope and my mom didnt want to rope.

Pasture roping is something I could get used too... with the right horse. Thank god my horse is fast as fast can be!!

My wife likes to come out and ride and watch while we rope, she just likes to plod around and isn't into the speed stuff, BUT the youngest daughter is starting to practice and should be heeling pretty soon...as a matter of fact, two of her ambassador(the drill team for the san angelo rodeo association) friends rope and are supposed to come over on Friday and rope with us -- I am sure I will get pictures or vidoe from that!

Yes, a fast and "cowy" horse are a great asset when pasture roping...add in surefooted and you have a great combo! There's just too much happening to worry about horse position and objects and your loop and upcoming obstacles and...

I think I will turn into one of those people at a round-up or branding that jumps up and is the first person out and about when someone says "We need to rope that cow/calf/yearling" LOL.
