Bull Roping

Someone put on a roping at the county's fair grounds. I dropped in to watch some friends in it. Took a few photos. Tried to get some of the different cheekpieces on the bits since that seems to be of interest.

Love the pics! Wish I lived in an area that had more of that stuff.

yep, we usually get the ones that haven't seen a human until they were pushed to the catch pen and loaded on the trailer to get to the sale...we have to mark 'em, tip 'em, and then the fun really starts.

I was wondering why one person didn't just trip the bull and the other tail or tie?

Not sure if this was some sanctioned event with rules or what. Didn't ask the people I know who were in it. Might think to ask when I bump into someone.

How were they doing it, heading and heeling? One picture looked like that's how they got him down.

Yeah. They were heading and heeling. Then the third guy would get down, get a second rope from the header and put those around two front feet. Then he'd go to the back end and, if the rope wasn't already on two feet he'd do that. Once he was back on his horse, time was recorded.

MAN! I'm so jealous haha! Gives me faith that if these big boys are getting roped then maybe my giant Charolais can too!

Its so interesting seeing what the different riders are using for headstalls etc. lucky you for getting to go

*Insert something witty*
