Does anyone know of any roping events in or close to northern NJ?

Go to the PRCA website. Look at their schedule. There are a few in NJ. http://www.prorodeo.com/Calendar2011.aspx

I could be wrong, but sometimes the fair holds some western events, maybe they'll have roping this year?

I'm assuming you mean the NJ State Fair? They usually just have barrel racing there. I try to go over and get photos of that event every year.

They don't usually do roping at the state fair up in Sussex, I go there every year. Only place I can think of is Cowtown rodeo but that's in south jersey
