Thank you Tiny! I'm quite happy with it! Granted I do want to ride him in it in a few more rides just to be sure.

My concern now is a pad. I really like the diamond wool pads. (thats what the lime green one is). But the tack shop owner thinks I need a thicker pad... (probably to sell me one from her shop but I'm not interested in the ones she sells) I'm not really sure though if I should look into a different style/brand of pad (like something with a full wither cut out?) or stick with a diamond wool pad but just get it in a longer size (lime is only 30x30 but can get it in 32x32) So what do you guys think?

This is the style of the lime pad.

I think the saddle fits well enough that you don't need a super-thick pad.

I would go with the bigger version of what you have. I've heard good things about Diamond pads (will be my next investment).

How thick is that lime green one? 3/4 inch? That should be thick enough.

Tiny: Green pad is a 1 inch thickness.

Thanks guys, I thought the saddle looked great with the pad thickness wise but wanted to make sure. I'll be ordering him a 32x32 pad this week some time and be making another trip up to the tack shop to return the Jim Sands and my Ammerman... its a 14 1/2 seat and while its comfy for the most part the pommel digs into me and after a long trail ride its like "Ugh..." lol So my journey with saddle fitting isnt over just yet lol 3 horses down 3 to go...

Well the most recent saddle seems to be the best fit of them off! As long as the gullet never touches his withers and you can always get a finger or two underneath it, you should be good.

    Oh my goodness NO!

If anything, I was going to suggest you need a THINNER pad. The saddle seems to fit him well, right? So why do you need to add "extra pairs of socks to the shoes"?

If your shoes fit your feet well, do you wear 2 pairs or socks? Nope. So if your saddle fits well, why do you need all that padding?

I would try to find a 1/2" pad, or at the thickest a 3/4" pad. No more than that.

If you like your Diamond Wool, you can sure stay with that. Myself personally, I am sold on the 5 Star saddle pads.
