What registry?

My mare is a registered Canadian Sport Horse. Her sire was a Belgian WB and dam is TB.

I am breeding her to a Trakehner. Our stallion: Tzigane

What registries would the foal be eligible for? I know it would be eligible for CSH but would it still be eligible for the Trakehner registry?

Don't know about here, but Germany would have to have the mare registered in Trakehner studbook for the foal to be eligible for Trakehner registration.

You need to get the mare inspected and approved as a trakehner before the goal would be registerable. Also IMO a WB registry is going to be better than a sport horse registry. Even if you can't register as a trak, SWANA might accept the stally, mare and foal...

Thank you everyone!

I will have to investigate further before the breeding. I have fingers crossed for a colt on this breeding so I want to make sure I can get him registered. And even if its a filly I still want her to be registered as this foal is hopefully going to be an UL Event horse and eventually used for breeding should he/she fill all the requirements to be beeding worthy. One of those being registered.

Doesn't look like the stallion is approved Canadian Sport horse.

The Trakehner registry will not approve of your horse ( not with that breeding) so you have the option to register the baby as 1/2 Canadian Sport horse.

You could try the Canadian Warmblood but you will need to wait until your baby is older and it will be registered appendix only.

The foal can actually get PART-Trakehner papers. Please read the ATA FAQ's page:

ATA FAQs - Registration

Specifically:

Q: What if the dam is not a Trakehner and I don't have the registration papers for the dam?

A: The foal, by an approved Trakehner stallion, is eligible for Part-Trakehner registration with only the dam's name listed on the registration certificate.

So, yes, *registration* with the ATA is possible, but the resulting foal can never be eligible for studbook approval.

I was not aware of that. With a dead end result it is not something I would act upon as full breeding information on that foal is not allowed..

Might be better off trying for the CW as the foals future might have more options.

Even the CSHA lists both Sire and Dam.

There is always the RPSI

Ugh lots of homework and pondering. This is going to be an amazing cross. My mare is VERY well bred and Taz will compliment her so well. There is no doubt in my mind that I will get a beautiful talented foal from this cross.

Looks like I will need to do some more digging on this and talk with the stallion owner some more.

Is there something like ZfDP in your part of the world?
I wouldn't go for "part-Trakehner". That's an American invention and probably not worth the paper it's printed on, registration wise. And im thoroughly shocked that this is being offered by the ATA( yes, I am too German)
Speak to the stallion owner and your mare's registry.
