Found Horse in Virginia (Bealeton Rt. 17)

Found chestnut gelding. Unknown breed. Roughly 20 years old. In good weight. Very friendly. Unique Blaze. 2 Socks - RF and LH. Was found Thursday morning in a paddock after state troopers showed up and said a horse had been spotted on Rte 17 in Bealeton. Area of Hugo's.

Won't animal control take the horse?

Well the state trooper was supposed to file a "found report" with animal control but upon speaking to some other people it doesn't look like that was ever done. He is nice enough, if he is in fact a horse someone let loose, we could rehome him, but also want the owner to have an opportunity to claim him.

I hope this story winds up with a happy ending. Sounds like the horse is in good hands.

If the horse is well fed, he probably got out. Maybe the owners are on vacation or something?

Is Haymarket vet aware of this? They have such a huge range they may be able to help. Since its close enough, they may have a coggins record that would be able to easily identify this horse's markings and owner. I can't think of any farriers that way that have a huge customer base. I hope the owner is found.
