15.5 Bighorn Cordura - Arabian tree * SOLD *

I bought this saddle with the intention of using it regularly but since I bought it, I've ridden in it probably all of twice.

It's super comfy, I just like my Aussie better! Haha

It's a black cordura Bighorn (Model #115), Arabian tree (basically, made for something with SMQB shoulders+flat back), 15.5 seat.
The fleece underneath is in great shape. The saddle itself is in great shape as well. It does have one or two small superficial scrapes from a previous owner but nothing too obvious or hideous.

This thing has been sitting in my tack room for months, time for it to find a new home!
It's really nice and light, would be perfect for someone looking for a nice saddle that doesn't weigh a gajillion pounds.

$300, plus shipping.

[the weird line on the fender in this picture is not actually real...it showed up when I lightened the picture up - can get better pictures! This is just all I have right this second]

Boo! Why's it got to be 15.5 seat? Me want! In either case, here's a bump for you. :)

It's a verrrry comfy 15.5?
Really though, I usually use a 15 (I like my western saddles to be not loose) but this saddle is perrrfect, even being 15.5.

However, you'd be swimming in it, Megan.
Thanks! :)

What size is the gullet and what's the total skirt length from front to back? I've been looking everywhere for a 15-15.5" western saddle with an Arabian tree. I swear I've been looking for at least a month solid - ever since my horse came back from training.

I've always heard good things about Big Horn saddles.

Gullet size, as in inches?
I can get both those measurements for you tomorrow! :)

I'll try to get some better pictures as well.
Hopefully this'll work out for you! That would be great!

Bighorns are great. They're my go-to for synthetic western saddles. I've had...3 of them in recent years. All were fantastic. Love them!

Sorry, yeah the inches measurement for the gullet. I hope it does, too. Thanks for getting the measurements and more pictures!

I nearly wired the money directly when the add was first posted by Wallaby because Oh did I want!
But...Mr. Shorty Backed Digby (aka my stubby gaited horse) couldn't take the skirt length. <sigh>

When I poked around on several sites researching, the ones with the saddle's specs had the skirt lengths listed as 27" for that model.

My poor guy is even too short for an arabian saddle! I'm embarrased for him.

No problem SEAmom! :)

Awww Lockwood, poor short Digs. He needs hugs and love. I wish it could have worked for you!!
I just saw on another site that the skirt length is 26" so at least it's not 100% a 27"! :) I'll definitely measure it tomorrow though...maybe it majikally has shrinking powers?

Well, I got the bendy noodle thing out this morning and re-measured Digs back just to make sure it truly would not fit. Yup.. nope.
Anything past a 24 is really pushing it and Im not sure SQHB would work either.

I did pass on the hugs and love though. (Thanks for those!)
While he was gracious enough to accept them (hes getting better with the huggy lovey thing we girls love to do) he did make sure I knew it certainly wasnt his fault he was born with pony ears and a pony back while the rest of him is a horse.

Here's hoping that it fits SEAmom's horse to a T.

Picture time!

So I measured and while the skirts themselves are 26", the tree is actually only 24". So the saddle may visually look "too long" on a horse with a back shorter that 26", theoretically, it should be fine. :)
I tried to get some pictures of that but forgot my soft measuring tape+kept ending up holding the measuring tape I was using upside down... But I did my best.

I also stuck it on Lacey+took some shots of her back shape because there's been some interest in the exact shape of a horse this saddle would fit. It fits her pretty respectably. Certainly the best out of any of the other millions of western saddles I've tried on her! But there's definitely wiggle room fit-wise.

I also measured the gullet which ended up being about 8" at "the measuring spot".

My "attempt" at measuring skirts...

At the longest point...

Where the tree ends...

Demonstrating no tree there...

Where the tree ends back there...

On Lacey. Shoulders with a steep angle...

Back (the saddle wishes her back were flatter, the only area where it doesn't fit her "great", btw, so a flatter backed horse would be fine/great)

Plus saddle...
