Big Horn - Price REDUCED

$250 OBO on my 15" BIG HORN saddle w/round skirt. Pics available:

Need to sell to buy new saddle/bareback saddle/treeless saddle for Chili. I *may* have found a western saddle to actually fit her. If so, I am going to send my own butt out on lessons every day.

I wish that you were closer so I could test it out on Legacy, Tinyliny pointed me towards this thread because she said your saddle looks like it might fit my appy, but i'm sure shipping would be very expensive and money is really tight right now

I understand and I can only assume the cost of shipping would be approximately $50-$100 given the weight. But IDK for sure.

I don't think it would cost so much. More likr 30.

Tiny - how would I ship something that big and bulky and heavy?

UPS should ship for around $30.

The most I have paid for shipping was $65 and that was for a very heavy, large western training saddle. You *should* be able to ship that one for no more than $40.

Yes, Chele, UPS. I had one shipped to me once. It was placed vertical, resting on it's fork with the stirrups wrapped inward so they tuck under the saddle tree. Put some padding down under the fork first. And the stuff newspaper around the loose space, tuck newspaper on top, and tape it shut. Mark "Top" on the top, and something like "Keep this side UP!"
You can get a good box from Uhaul or what ever. UPS might do the packing for you, but of course, they will charge.

Thanks for the info!!!

Do not ship a saddle on it's forks because it's actually the horn that takes the brunt of being knocked about. Set the box so the saddle is in the same position as if on a horse. Tuck the skirts downward so that they don't develop an upward curl while in transit. Criss cross the stirrups underneath, removing them if you have to. There will be lots of room for them above the seat. You don't need to add a bunch of packing or styrofoam pellets. Just bubblewrap the horn and mark the box "this side up". The saddle will arrive in good shape.
