Wanted to add, I would really prefer to ship within the US since my hubby ships from his job for me. Thanks for understanding :)

Also, if anyone wants references I can refer you to the forum I have done quite a bit of buying and selling on. My hubby ships fast for me and I communicate often, as well as provide tracking numbers. Thanks for looking!

    Hi,
I'm looking for a black extra saddle for my western riding family members and am interested.
I've got a really short backed Mountain Horse... would you be willing to measure the overall skirt length of the saddle? From about the gullet area/where it would sit over his withers to the very back edge.
And from the most front point (I know it's a rounded front) ...say about where the ring for the breast collar attachment is to the furthest back of the skirt?
Surprisingly the wither fit has gone better than my saddle length challenge.
    Thanks!

I have the same problem with my TWH mare. She has such a short back anything longer than a barrel saddle is pushing it.

    Just measured it for you:
Measuring from front most point it measures 23". From the gullet where it would sit over the withers measures 22". Let me know if you have anymore questions :)

Oh gosh, I was afraid of that. It's probably too long, but thank you for taking the time to measure for me.... I appreciate that.
Looks like anyone who wants to ride my guy will just have to learn to ride in my english or Aussie saddle and get snickered at on the trail amidst the swarm of western saddles.

He must have an even shorter back than my mare. She can go up to 26" total in a saddle skirt but more than that is just too long.

    Good luck to you

BTW, I love my Aussie for my mare. Took some folks at the barn some time to get used to it and finally stop giggling at it
I have ridden western all my life but don't mind switching up now and then

Yeah, its been fun trying to find a good fit (not.) I already had a regular Aussie stock saddle and that is is too long at 24" so I bought a lite rider Aussie endurance saddle that is only 19-20". Those four extra inches make a big difference!
Thankfully my AP english saddles fit ok too, but it seems like I am the only english trail rider within about 200 square miles and my friends eyeball my saddles like they might bite!
I rode western as a youngster, but am now older and set in my ways :)

Meh...Let 'em laugh. As long as you and your horse are comfy and safe, that's all that matters :)

    Showing
Lockwood, the bars on a 15" saddle with a Ralide tree measure 21,3/4". The soft cordura skirts don't rub like leather skirts might.
