This is an 18 inch saddle, with what I believe is a wide tree. I consider it to have a typical length/confirguration of flap. It is a dressage saddle with a fladded flap, made of leather, with long billets. I am not 100% sure because there are no brand marks on the nailheads, but I believe this is an early prototype Dover Circuit saddle. It has somewhat of a similar look/feel/shape/quality and that's where its prior owner thought she bought it. I am selling it as a "no name" because I can't say for sure, but it's not an el cheapo saddle. It's not a Hermes either it's a middle of the road, decent quality saddle and I have it priced accordingly. Similar in quality to the Dover and newer Collegiate saddles.
The tree measures 6 inches point to point inside where the nailheads are. The channel has a generous 2.5 inches of clearance. The flap measures 17 inches long, measuring from the stirrup bar down to the bottom of the flap.
By my best judgment, I think this is wool flocked. It feels like wool and there are little areas where the stitching makes me think the panels have wool. The flocking feels soft and evenly distributed. Not compressed or broken down.
The overall condition of the saddle is like new. You can see on the photo of the flap, there isn't even wear from the stirrups rubbing. This saddle honestly may have never been ridden in. Or at most, a couple of times. There are a few light marks on the seat, I think perhaps from being bumped in storage. This saddle needs a good conditioning, I think it's very likely the dings would oil/condition right out.
I would put this saddle in a category where I would expect it to be $800/900 new. I am selling this saddle for $300 plus shipping. I'm not negotiable. That's what I am asking and I have a feeling I'll get a couple hundred more at the tack swap coming up-- but if I can sell here and save myself the hassle-- I will. Shipping should be $25-50 depending on whether you're on the east coast like me or not (I am in NJ). I take PayPal. My PayPal is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Not interested in trades. Just want $300 and a saddle shaped hole in my basement
