What is a fair price to ask for this saddle?

So I am going to put one of my old saddles on ebay. I haven't used it in a long time and don't envision using it again so may as well get rid of it. I have a price in mind that I am thinking of listing it at but wanted to see what everyone else thinks before I actually go ahead and list it.

It is an older model Bates Caprilli Dressage saddle, made in approx 2000 (can't find a serial number). Well used, well loved, well looked after. Comes with girth shown in the last photo.

It is 16.5 inches, med gullet, does NOT have CAIR system.

So let me know what you think a reasonable asking price would be, feel free to post an actual price or to let me know if other photos would be helpful, thanks for your time!

I would start at $600 and come down if I needed too but I know nothing about dressage or their saddles, so that is just my guess...

Thanks for your input!

Anyone else care to add their thoughts? Brutal honesty, as always, is appreciated

It looks like a nice, well-taken care of saddle, but without the CAIR package it's going to significantly decrease its value, since most people are looking nowadays for a saddle to adjust to multiple horses. Someone with one or two horses that it would fit would be a much better market for it. I would say start advertising for around $700 and gradually bring your price down if you get no takers. It leaves room for negotiation, too.

Thank you too! I am trying to get as many opinions as I can, then I will tell you the price I had in mind ha ha.

I just don't want to mess around with ebay too much, I'd rather list it at a fair price and have it sell straight away rather than having to go to the trouble of re-listing it. Hopefully I can get a few more valued HF-ers to give me their much valued input...

ETA: Just to clarify, the CAIR package refers to the panels of the saddle, the easy change gullet system is separate. This saddle has neither...

Sarah, I'd say $600. BTW, I never had luck selling stuff on ebay for whatever reason (same about craigslist). Places like tacktrader etc. bring more interest in my experience.

Thanks Kitten, I will check out tacktrader, I hadn't heard of it! I might do some research on there and see what saddles are going for right now.

Thanks guys!

The price I had in mind was actually lower than anyone guessed, now I am thinking of being greedy and perhaps upping it to $600....

Cos, you know, I would need to replace it with another saddle that fits my current horse right?!

free to users named eliz...

Lovely saddle! :) Agree around the $600 range. Actually, I would advertise it as $650 so you would have room to come down and still get what you want for it. But I'm sneaky like that
