I am looking for a new reining saddle. As soon as I find one that fits my horse and me, I will be selling this one, and would like an idea of value, since I am debating trading it. I bought it last spring (new) at Stagecoach West. It is a Rocking R, but has the stagecoach "Bar J" on the seat plate instead of the Rocking R. Marked Rocking R on the cinch holder thingy (sorry-don't know the name of it!)
It is a 17", FQHB, and they told me it was a reining saddle. It is more of a training model, I think, altho it does have butterfly skirts.
It is in nearly new shape, since the horse was in training all summer and I only started using it this fall. I paid $1800 for it.
Looks to be their 2380 training model. I paid $500 for my husband's Rocking R association roping saddle used. And it looks to me as if you can buy your saddle new for $982.90 15" 16" 17" Rocking R Training Saddle rr2380
I love Rocking R saddles and think they will only keep increasing in value as their name gets out there.
I know. Have already checked it out. Have been offered $600 on trade, which is not bad. Just feel a bit stupid since the place I bought it from (a very well known tack shop) sold it to me as a reining saddle, and towts how good they are at fitting. Fits the horse great! But is for someone with a much bigger caboose than I! Plus, they sold it to me for over $1500! Hmmm. Guess we live and learn.
It ereally is a comfy saddle, just not what I thought it was. They did answer my email, and will refund my entire purchase price, which is a total surprise. They told me it was not the trainer, blah blah, and told me it was custom.....well, I sent them the link of the 2380, and yeah, not totally identical (mine has a smooth leather seat, full tooling) but still. So, I am happy, and the search for a repacement has accelerated astronomically. I have to send this back soon, and....if I find nothing else, I will be riding bareback! Lol
