I'm having to do the same thing w/ my boy while rebuilding his topline. He lost a LOT of weight and muscle when he came off the track, and is proving to be...difficult. What I'm doing is riding him in a pad, w/ a sheepskin half pad over it. The sheepskin is GREAT and saves his back with each ride. :o) It was pricey ($80) but WELL worth it. :o)
