Blackberry Question

OK...so I currently have a cheap little Motorola phone with a plan for unlimited texting, 200 talk minutes & my 5.

If I switch to a blackberry...will I get charged more? (I will switch the sim card)

Also..I have the offer of a free phone. A) a blackberry storm that freezes sometimes b) blackberry pearl

Depends on your carrier but in most cases if you do not have a smartphone data plan you will be charged an insane amount and I'm guessing you don't since you had a previous "dumb" phone. Best to call and ask, otherwise you could be left with a large bill.

... and switching to a data plan will almost always be a lot more than what you're paying.

Ughhh. Im hoping I can get away with a simple plan for the pearl..

You might be able to, so long as you disable the data on the BlackBerry. That means no web browsing, no email, no games that REQUIRE data usage. It's been a while since I had a BlackBerry but I think there is an option to disable data - which won't affect calls or text messages.
