child appropriate x-box games

My husband is the x-box player dude in the family but my ten year old has recently started playing. He does have minecraft but all the other games are shooting games and I want to limit them.

Looking for Christmas present ideas. I ordered angry birds and spyro but looking for something else that's not quite so violent? He does have the game where you put the figures on the lighted platform, little dinosaur looking things....

We have a play station, but I think all the games are the same.

Skylanders is the figure on box thingy . Infinity is another figures-on-box game, but probably a bit too young for your son.

I find there is a dearth of non-violent games. Lego Star Wars, Lego Harry potter, and Lego lord of the Rings are what we have. The characters do shoot/hex/attack each other, but they are Lego figures so there's no realistic blood and gore.

Apart from those, would he like the driving games?

I'm not into x-box (I'm a ps3 person lol) so some of these games may not be on x-box. I just went off of what I've seen/remembered being dual platform. I also wasn't sure if you wanted something LESS violent than spyro/angry birds, or the shooters.
-sonic the hedgehog
-harry potter (for kinect)
-disney olympics games of some sort (also for kinect)
-epic mickey (there's two games so either one lol)

I'm not sure how old your kid is but there's also plants vs zombies which is fun for all ages and I equate it to a form of chess. Good luck on the Christmas shopping! :)

I guess I should say less realistic violence then then say modern warfare or call of duty... (those are what he likes to play! Yuck)

I forgot about the lego games. I'll look at those. I just don't want to buy stuff that he won't play. I'm not sure he'll play spyro or not... He does play the baseball one and loves racing games. He wants grand theft auto but he aint gettin' it!

I did buy the walking dead game... that's gory but it's zombies....

I just actually remembered something! If you're worried about what games he'll play you can always look through the $5 bins. Now that the new systems have come out a lot of really good games are in there (I just recently got two brand new, recently released games for $3 each ). If he doesn't play it or like it then you didn't spend $60 on it at least!

You could also consider books to read and things to do outside.

Definitely lego! I'm 17 and even my younger brother (11) and I love to play those! LOL. Indiana Jones is probably my favorite.

We live on 80 acres. We spend tons of time outside. He's also into baseball just about year around. Book... That one is hard. He has dyslexia and reading is nowhere near fun for him right now. I do get the ranger rick magazines though....
