Help! Programs won't open!

Windows updated automatically last night and now some of my most used programs won't open. For example, firefox, iTunes, WMM, msn.
Anyone had this problem before?

That's very weird.

What happens when you try to open the program, nothing or do you get an error message? I assume you have tried restarting the computer? What version of Windows are you running?

Do you know how to restore restore your computer? My laptop does that ALL the time and I just have to restore it to a point just before the updates.
If you haven't or don't know how just click Start: All Programs: Accessories:System Tools:System Restore. There should be a restore point or multiple ones there, all you have to do is click it. I hope this helps!

Jinxremoving, the programs just won't open. No error messages or anything. Just nothing happens.
Dusty, I've already tried restoring my computer. It didin't work. It didn't even have the option to restore it to a point before the update.

Do you have your Windows installation / recovery CD? If you do, follow these brief instructions. It won't re-install everything, which you may have to do anyway, but it'll re-install any broken Windows files that may be causing the problem.

System Recovery Options - Windows 7 Forums

The instructions are pretty similar for Vista, if you're not running Windows 7. Sounds like a mess though... :(
