Help windows 8 problems

Hello everyone I need help desperately, I love to write books and was right in the middle of one where a police officer realizes she likes her vampire informant in the paranormal world but how could she? He gets away with murder because he leaks information! UGH I want to write it so bad, but im having issues.

My old computer broke, went in and got it replaced(always buy warrantees), but its windows 8 and although all my stuff was downloaded to it it doesn't have word!!! Im soooo upset!!! I can't afford to go buy it at the moment. Is there any way I can download an older version for free? I need to write im going mad. My hands were crushed several years ago and I cannot write on paper anymore, also ruined my chances of ever being a vet because the nerves in my fingers are messed up and cannot preform finer movements. Thank god I can type. Can anyone help me, im searching the web now but it ridiculous how bad these windows 8 computers are.

No but if you download notepad (it should be free) click on the file and select open with notepad. I'm on Windows 8.1 and it worked for me.

Google docs is another good way to go.

I use notepad usually, and I generally do just use it for notes and not any real writing since I can't edit font or anything on it. I have word on my laptop but it stopped working for whatever reason so I'm stuck without it for now

I like Google docs I use it sometimes for school. But, Google Docs only provided with 1GB of storage space for uploaded files. Keep in mind that this is only for Google Docs. Photo and email storage does not count towards the Google Docs word processing application limit. Google Docs editing features are limited to the basic commands of find and replace, cut, copy, paste, undo and redo. However for the average user these are the only tools that are really used. Google Docs offers the ability to be able to open a document in seven different formats including Word and PDF files
