Humming headphones, stops when I touch it?!

I bought a new pair of Samsung headphones and have been using them in my laptop. Just today I noticed they are making a sort of loud humming noise, this humming noise stops when I touch my laptop anywhere except the actual screen, the silver area around the mouse and the hinge that holds the screen on.
I don't have to put any pressure on my laptop cause I thought maybe something was loose, just touch it with one finger and it stops. It doesn't stop if I set a weighted object on it, I've tried a few of different material.

Any idea why they're humming?

The wires may be damaged....my best bet! Don't know why they would stop when the laptop was touched though!

As mentioned, probably bad wires or even something internal with the speaker (headphone) jack. Do you have other headphones or even speakers you can plug in to try and see if they all do it?

... almost sounds like when you touch the laptop in certain places that you're "grounding" yourself.

Yes, humming is usually a bad ground wire and you're picking up the 120v AC. I would first try another set to make sure it's not your machine. If no hum, return the speakers.
