I have to disagree on the HP. We had 3 HP laptops in the house...and they all took a crap within 3 years. Same problem on all three.

I am now using a Sony Vaio and its been nothing but great!

I like Toshiba laptops. I have had Dells, vaio's, and Toshibas. IMO, for the price, Toshiba offers the best product. I always try to get the "latest" chip. I don't know if they are above i7, yet. But, software only gets "bigger"..so it is worth it.

Well, to bad it had to be a portable printer. I got a canon printer on amazon's gold box deal yesterday. I don't currently need one, but when I do....

So far the HP laptop is working well for what I need it for.
I did get one that got good reviews.

I did give up on the portable printer for now. I thought I was going to be doing more traveling this summer and I didn't.

I wish I had seen this thread when it was started, but I was not on the board then so I will chime in now.

Personally I won't touch an HP laptop with a 10 foot pole, certanly won't spend money on them, in the last 8 years HP has been in a steady downhill slide away from Quality, they are having serious motherboard issues, and are prone to just giving up the ghost.

For myself I prefer ASUS, they make a solid computer, and they build most of the laptops for Dell. Toshiba is also a pretty good brand.

I would also stay away from sony because sony has been known to use sub standard components in their gear to bring the price down, and I have seen a lot of issues with their product over the years.

My personal machine that I use day in and day out is an ASUS B53S, I am running windows 8, it works great for what I have to do with it.
