"Legal" Content for front page of website...

I am starting a website which will mostly be to spread the word to help horses in need. It is a message forum, to help raise money, people asking for help etc. My question is, I am trying to do the front page and I'm not a great writer, and I was wondering if I can copy some articles off other websites pertaining to horse rescue, etc if it doesn't specify that it can't be copywrited or used in anyother way? I just want to try to help horses!

Thanks!

As long as they're not copyrighted, you don't post them as your own material, and give credit for where you got the article, I think you should be fine.

If your blog/message board is just to help people connect, and not where you're actually trying to collect money yourself, you won't need a 501(c)3 designation. If you're planning to actually collect and distribute money, you'll need to be classified legally as a not for profit organization.
