Today I've been loading up a remote desktop connection to the uni servers on my laptop and playing with ASPEN Plus. ASPEN is process engineering software and ASPEN Plus is a program that allows you to simulate a huge variety of chemical processes. It's got huge databanks for all sorts of chemicals, equations of state and calculation methods - basically, instead of doing fifty thousand simultaneous mass and energy balances every time I want to optimise a flash vessel, I just have to change the temperature on the input form and run the simulation again xD You have no idea how much I love being able to do so much at the click of a button.
It's lots of fun to play around with. I'm also learning to use MATLAB.
