Samsung Galaxy s4 or s5?

I know im probably spamming the forum with my phone questions, so I promise this is the last one, as I'm nearing the end of my search. Well its been half a year since my phone broke, and I'm still phone less. So its about time for me to finally buckle down and get a phone.

I originally was keen after an iphone, but now I'm opting against one. I have a perfectly good iPod touch 5, so I don't need an iphone.

Im after a good quality phone. New technology is a must, but it doesnt have to be the newest. Good quality camera, ability to text and call, and download apps. Would like to be able to connect to the web, both through wifi and networks. Samsung galaxies fit my criteria. Now, I need to decide which one I want.

Things to consider:

-price, neither is cheap. My dad's friend, who works with a phone company, can get me a 15% discount, so a s5 will be about $720, and an s4 will be $530. I'm leaning towards s4, but if there is a good enough reason to get an s5, I can push to spend a little more.

-camera. I love taking pictures, sending snapchats and taking vids. I don't know all the camera features on both models, but I know the s5 has a 16megapixel cam, wears the s4 only has 13 or 14.

-internet connection. I would assume the s5 connects better as its newer, but as long as I can get internet, I'll be happy.

-technology. I don't want my phone to go out of date quickly, I have had that happen, and its not fun when its slow and can't do much. So would the s4 remain good for the next few years?

I expect that I wont get another phone for at least 6-8 years, so this has to last.

So whats everyones suggestions? S4 or s5? Or is there another phone you can recommend that fits my criteria?

I'm willing to consider any phones if you reckon I should buy it. Also, any reviews of the current phone you have?

After reading a lot of online reviews the galaxies seem to have a lot going against them. So I'm back to square one, ugh. So, can anyone help me? Anything, I just need help finding a good phone.

This is so much harder than it should be

My boyfriend just recently went to an S5 after having an S4, a lot of people know have had problems with the S4, mainly with randomly shutting off and turning back on, and also "eating" the sd card, deleting all the data and being unable to read it, so there goes all your app data, your photos etc.
He has the S5 now and he absolutely loves it, though I personally hate it because it doesn't fit in my pockets nicely, I can't fit it in my bra, boot or a pocket if I were to go out riding on my own, and it's too bulky to want to have it strapped to my arm. It's just too big for me. That is my only complaint about it, that and it takes so darn long to charge, but in saying that we just recently found out that it does have a mode for when you are getting low in battery and can't charge it yet, it goes right back down to the most basic form (even black and white screen) and only allows you to txt/call etc, and it will supposedly last 24 hours on 1% battery, very good if you were to say go out camping or somewhere without power for more than a day, as he does have to charge it every night otherwise.

I have the iPhone 5, and I love it, have had it since October and not had a problem with it at all, my only complaint is having to charge it every night but I don't think any phones do last much longer than a day anymore. I like it because I can charge it while playing music through my car head unit, no other phone brands are supported through my head unit unless I use the aux cable, not handy when I need to charge it. I love the size, while it's big I can still fit in in most of my pockets, or comfortably on my body somewhere if I go out riding.
They have taken the iPhone 5 off the market however, so if you wanted to go in that direction your next best option would be the iPhone 5c, which is basically exactly the same, only it has been made cheaper due to having a plastic outer rather than glass. Or even the iPhone 5s if you wanted to spend extra, though I think a 5c would do just fine.

In your situation I would be debating between the galaxy s5, and the iphone 5c. I am an iphone girl, because of the size, and also because I find them so easy to navigate. I can use a galaxy, but I'll be darned if I can figure out and actually remember how to use it to it's full potential.

I'm looking up more reviews and now I'm even more confused.. Lol. Well, im against the galaxy 4s now as the reviews are terrible and I don't want my data being eaten.

I did think the s5 is a little big, but I could work around it. If I go for an iphone I would rather a 5s over a 5c, and I would probably pay a little more for one. I don't mind hard to navigate, I've grow up around a technician and a software programmer, so I think I'll be fine ;) ill look up the specs on iPhones.

The Galaxy also has a far better camera than an iPhone.

I can navigate through it, it just annoys me that something so simple to do on an iPhone is like a labyrinth of options on a galaxy. It's good to work with apps on though since it has such a big screen, it's just too big for my personal liking, though if I were to use one every day I would probably think differently.

The other thing is that because it's such a brand spanking new phone it's a bit difficult to find cases you like for it, sure you can get an otterbox from the tech store, but it's incredibly expensive for a case, and isn't even that good of a case... My bf snapped his, whereas the otterbox on my iphone is a lot more robust. That's only a time thing though, I'm sure they will have a bigger range of cases out shortly

I already have a website that sells s5 cases. I'm usually very careful with my phone so its not like it'll die without a case. Except my last phone, I literally threw it on the concrete. But that thing was the Nokia of the smartphone world. I'm still looking at specs. I love the galaxy, but I also like iPhones. What about a htc? Or other brand? Too many choices.

Im kinda steering towards a galaxy right now, but I'll keep looking.

I have a Galaxy S4 and love it. The camera is awesome, and I don't find it any more annoying to deal with than my old Droid X2. Android operating systems are different than the Apple ones, so if you're used to an iPhone chances are you're not going to like the Android systems.

If the S5 had been available when I was upgrading, I'd have gotten one of those. I like the bigger screens anyway, and have been looking with interest at the tablets where you insert your phone to make the screen even bigger.

I had an android before, so I know the system quite well. Except I learnt never to buy cheap knock offs, the stupid thing ended up with so many problems that it's no useable anymore. Im tossing up between a s5 and iPhone 5s, I'll be asking around today to see what my friends reckon.

I'm another one who loves the Galaxy series. I have an S4. I had a look at an S5 recently and bloody hell those things are huge O.O I thought MY phone was big!

My baby takes great photos and the flash is super bright. I'm not sure where it sits megapixel wise. The front camera is only 2MP but that's the front camera, the back camera is much better. I love how many options there are to customise my phone.

I did manage to shatter the screen and that wasn't cheap to get fixed. First I only cracked it, and I got a quote on screen replacement, but I could deal with a few cracks. Then it fell out of my pocket while I was riding, nearly 6 feet, and the screen totally shattered. I got it fixed. The repair guy said it was the worst screen smash he had ever seen! $300 later my phone was pristine again. I did not have it in a case when it fell because one case had died and I couldn't find my spare. It has been dropped from horseback before, onto the road, and been absolutely fine [actually that was about 2 days after I got it]. I don't have an otterbox or lifeproof case or any of that, just a normal case.

IPhones are cheaper to fix, but more likely to break. They also have issues with freezing, and the battery life is horrible considering the screen size. My Galaxy S4 is turned up to full screen brightness and will last through five to six hours of continuous Facebooking. It's gone four days between charges before, but that doesn't happen very often. I use it constantly. My dad had an iPhone that needed charging every 6 hours of NOT being used.

Love my Otterbox. Without it, my S4 is as slippery as a wet fish!
