I've never ridden in an Aussie saddle so I can't really vote for or against it. I have however ridden in a few barrel saddles that were entirely rough-out/suede and loved the way they hugged my seat and made me feel more secure then a typical western saddle.

I hadn't known there was more then one medical meaning for the abbreviation...that does make things confusing.

I'm accustomed to ASD meaning 'autism spectrum disorder'. I'll remember to skip the abbreviations in the future.

Thanks again for the recommendations!

It's all in what you've been exposed to. I new a girl once who had the heart condition so it was what I was familiar with. Slang term is a hole in the heart. Not as big a deal now as I'm sure it was before they had perfected heart surgery although there can be additional conditions that can still make the fix higher risk.

I'd never remember what ASD (the heart condition) meant, but I thought I should at least remind myself so I looked it up (atrial septal defect). Obviously not something I'll remember since "ASD" is so much easier.
