Back on the Pacific Crest Trail

Had a great ride from Crystal Mountain in WA last week.
14 miles round trip with some exposed ridge and steep hill siding mixed in.

In spite of some of the initial scariness (yes, I've got this height phobia thing!), and weather that wasn't the most cooperative, the ride was one of the best I've been on. We climbed out of the Crystal Mountain Basin up onto the Pacific Crest Trail. After hanging out (kind of literally) we headed down the opposite side into the prettiest alpine lake area you'd ever want to see.

In addition to the tremendous views we also saw mountain goats, WOW! we were within 100 meters of them at one point. Never having seen them in the wild it was amazing.
Iím very much looking forward to returning to this area when the weatherís better!
As always much more info on the ride (trail maps, pics, driving directions, etc.) here Basin Lake Loop

Hey that is awesome!!!
I worked at a pck station in the Eastern Sierra's as the cooks helper. I would post pics, but I do not have a scanner so no go on that one.
This looks like so much fun!
I have been having the "wants" to go back but there is only a week before college starts and I know you have to reserve well in advance.
Now did you go on your own or with a pck station and guides???
PM me the info I might want to go up north next summer...Hehehe..I am having the calling again!
If any readers out there have not tried this....look at those beautiful photos! Try will love it!
Thanks so much for sharing this with us!

Thanks for the kind words! We went out on our own for this particular trip. It was great! - May go back this coming weekend for better pics. Think good thoughts for clear skies!
