Can this be used for horses???

Do you think this can be used while I'm riding to find out how far and fast my horse is going? It also has a heart rate moniter, would that work for a horse? I honestly know nothing about this kinda stuff! Garmin - 010-N0375-00 - Forerunner 301 NOH Personal Trainer, HRM

Thanks!

I personally don't know the product, but what came to mind is that it doesn't have mapping abilities. I like having my GPS because I always mark where the trailer is parked so if I get lost, I can get back to the trailer. If that isn't important to you, then it would work. For the same price or a little cheaper you can get the Garmin Etrek 10, but it doesn't have heartmonitor. A couple of the endurance riders on here have watch GPS with heart monitors, Check out Joe4D and Phantomhorse.

I think those are pretty dang cool but the map tracking isn't really as useful on those. I have a separate heart monitor that goes to a watch. Dang...I haven't used it in a while and hope to get back to using it soon! I use the Garmin eTrex Ventura HC to map trails and record distance, speed, etc.
