    Competition?

I never have been very competitive, but I was curious about any competitions out there suitable for trail riders and horses?

Note: I reside in NE Oklahoma.

I just did a quick Google search, these are probably the people you'd want to get in contact with.

Oklahoma Equestrian Trail Riders Association, Inc.

What sort of competition? Are you looking at doing trail classes (which are held in rings during "normal" shows or doing things out on an actual trail?

I don't know much about trail classes in shows, but there are lots of distance riding organizations that hold rides all over the country. AERC is the governing body for endurance, which has organized rides of 25-100 miles. NATRC is the nationwide CTR (competitive trail ride) organization, which has organized rides of 15-100 miles. ACTHA does shorter trail challenges (generally 8-10 miles) which incorporate judged obstacles.

Maybe endurance or competetive trail riding.

    What Phantomhorse said.

Oklahoma is a pretty big NATRC state, and I'm sure it has a good bit of endurance as well. There are endurance riders in the endurance section of the forum that don't bite at all and will answer any questions you have! As far as I know, I'm the only NATRC-er. If you have any questions about either, shoot us up.

What do you want out of your trail sport?

I used to do a lot of NATRC and even sponsor a ride for a number of years. Highly recommend that organization for getting out and getting started in something competitive with your horse.

The only draw back, is that it requires a bit of travel to go to a number of events during the season. But they are fun.
