Current Creek Ride

Went on a ride up above Current Creek over the weekend. We ran into a cow moose, porcupine, coyote, a ton of deer, and some elk.

I usually ride the other side of the mountain t strawberry. But pretty much the same country.

It doesn't look like you stayed in the Horse camp at Current Creek. I've tempted to drive the extra distance and try that camp. But Strawberry is a two hour drive for me and Current Creek is more like 3 by time we get down that gravel road.

Your photo looking back at the lake looks like you made it up into the Roundy Basin, I;ve ridden that when I come up and over the top from strawberry.

Always see Moose, Elk and Deer in that area.

My daughter and I rode up at Strawberry two weeks ago, We stayed lower and by the creeks because of threatening thunderstorms. Didn't want to be on a ridge top with lightening

We stayed in a pull-off up the Race Track Creek road. There was water in the creek within a couple hundred yards of the trailer. Unless you are looking for a new place I would just ride up the Strawberry side like you said and save the fuel though. It added a good hour of driving for really the same type of country/ride.

Back in the 90's I put on a CTR from Mill B at Strawberry. Over time it evolved to include endurance and when I stopped putting it on, it converted to total endurance race. I had laid out over 100 miles of trails for the events. So I know that side very well.
