Fall Color along the Greenwater River

Trying to take maximum advantage of the clear weather we ventured out along the Greenwater River to Lost Lake. The lake wasn’t really lost nor were we, thankfully.
The trip was cool, with much hoar frost on the ground, and we were glad to have had our gloves and jackets with us as much of the route is through heavily shaded mature forest. Once we made it to Lost Lake proper the sun warmed us up and made for a relaxing lunch.
Some fantastic rock formations just below the lake made us glad to have explored Lost Lake as opposed to Echo Lake which is just over a ridge.
As always; for trail details, more pics, route map, and more click here.

River crossings are part of the game on this ride.

Riding in the fall is so beautiful! I live in an area with heavy duty hunting too. We hauled to Houston yesterday to ride in the woods around the huge airport there. Deer tracks all over but it is in the city and no hunting allowed. We are going to be hauling to that area to ride in two others spots because they are in the city limits. There is an equestrian park and Cypress Creek where we an go - it is about a 2 hour haul with a trailer so we do spend 4 hours driving but it is safer.
