The Fed Ex guy is one of my favorite people.

We crossed paths today while he was dropping off a box of magazines from my editor and I was returning from a quick visit to Cayuse camp and an attempt to make fish (tacquala) lake above Salmon La Sac. Cayuse Horse Camp was very pleasant and will be very full this weekend judging from the reserved tags on all the campsites; Fish Lake; you’d need to be a fish to get through Scatter Creek.

At any rate the FedEx package. It contained the June issue of TrailBlazer, the monthly that I write for. Page 40 starts a 7 page feature on how to read a topo map and why it’s important. The article also has a great pic of some of my Tahoma BCHW chapter members on the PCT above Crystal Mountain (the same pic that made the 2012 BCHW calendar) as well as a good pic of Mining the wonder Icelandic making her way up a steep slope near De Roux. Hope the wife doesn’t mind that I used that one!

A few pages further back in the mag is my regular column "Top Trail Picks". June explores Les Hilde, the Cleveland Metro Parks, and the Manassas Battleground.

At any rate just wanted to share, Happy Trails!
