It feels like it’s been forever since I’ve posted anything! We’ve been terribly busy both visiting new areas and implementing some exciting new technologies.
First the new areas that we’ve just posted Nile
– I just got back from 2 additional days on the east side of the mountains completing the Nile trails
dataset. It’s a very pretty area and there are a lot of good riding opportunities here. Elbe
– In WA, not the European river
Visited and collected data in the relatively unused west side of the park. The new Diamond Trail reroute is very nice. Great job Pierce Co.! Greenwater
– Spent a few days in the Greenwater drainage at Echo Lake
with side trips to Corral Pass
and Airplane Meadow via the Arch Rock trail
. The Arch Rock Trail
is suitable for people riding mountain goats. Made it up to the PCT and can report that the snow is going away at last. Only scattered drifts remained as of Friday.
Went to Taylor Mountain
last Sunday with the better half and am consistently awed by the views. Maybe not so great as the high country but still wonderful and so very close to home. No long haul for me or the horses at Taylor!
And the way exciting part is that we are now producing electronic maps that can be directly downloaded into your GPS unit. This has been an ongoing challenge and I think we’ve finally got it licked. We’re still in Beta mode with manual GPS installs (it’s really quite easy) and working hard on an auto installer that will download and install to your GPS with just a click.
Visit the Tiger Mountain Horse Trails page
and try downloading the electronic trail map into your Garmin GPS. It’s free and you may like having a backup to your paper map!
