The November Northwest Horse Source has our article on camping off of your horse (or mule) without the use of pack stock. Many riders want to experience camping away from the trailhead but donít have, or want the expense of, pack stock. Camping off your riding animal can get you away from the trailhead and into remote areas while also treading lightly on the land. It's certainly not the same experience as using pack stock for a wilderness trip but neither is it uncomfortable or unpleasant. I find that my packstock-less trips are much more relaxing as I only have one animal to worry about.
As the distribution date for this piece was November I included my recipe for my version of a trail Thanksgiving dinner. Mighty tasty after a long day
On the trail!
