I switched to barefoot some time back and haven't had shoes on since. What I would do is try her first barefoot and see how that works. If it doesn't seem to be working out consider a set of boots for her or shoes.
All 9 of mine are shod, but I'm packing on rock every trip out. When rolling a green horse into the pack string the biggest problem to overcome is water crossings. So spend time in mud puddles, mud and small creeks. You can work on the mud puddles at home. Horses have issues with creeks since the are a prey animal their hearing gets impaired when crossing a creek with the sound of the moving water.
