We have done tons of walks on trail and a couple of times I have jumped up on him while out, but this was his first official trail ride. I couldn't be happier.
I recently moved Mana to a new facility with some friends so that we could do self care boarding, which is our preference. The new area has over 200 miles of trails which are taken care of by the local riding club. If it weren't hailing out right now, I'd be riding.
I have since gone on two other rides with him, but these are pics from his first time out. One of my co-leaser friends came with on his Perch mare, Rose.
Mana was skittish at first so I walked him for a while before I got on. We first rode to the riding center. They have a full cross country course. Got a few spooks and snorts from Mana over the jumps but nothing bad.
We rode to some wetlands and eventually got to a river crossing. My friend was going to let Rose go in and play since she enjoys splashing the water, and then come back out and go a different direction. I got off of Mana so that I could walk him up to the river and see it. I wasn't going to ask him to go in at all. Just stop and get a drink, but he saw Rose playing in the water and walked right in. I was holding the reins and just before I fell into the water, I decided to just walk through with him since he was being so good. It wasn't even up to my knees, so it wasn't bad.
I got back on and we rode around some more before turning back. I made sure to get pictures and a video of going back through.
All in all, a really great time! I can't wait for this rain to quit. I am hoping to spend all day saturday and sunday to ride. Fingers crossed that it dries out a bit!
Mana and Puzzle taking a nap. Rose standing guard.
And off on the road to the riding center. (Literally. The trail is a closed road that is falling apart.)

OMIGOD it's going to eat me!!
Heading toward the wetlands.
And heading back. About to go through the river again.
