I just purchased a new trail buddy. Meet PAC (stands for "piece a' cake" because he was a piece of cake to ride and cake supports my horses as I am a wedding cake designer!).
He is a coming 10 year old Quarter Horse gelding that is palomino with a pretty flaxen mane and tail and a pretty blaze down his face. He has a very calm laid back demeanor and goes quietly up and down hills, over trees, through creeks. Other than that he is pretty clueless on standing still, giving to pressure, picking up feet, side passing, lunging, turning on the haunches/forequarters or going smoothly into a lope - lol he just flat out galloped. But to be fair, horses were up ahead and he has been run to death by others and he thinks that is what is expected.
He loaded pretty easily in my Brenderup right away which is a huge plus for me...he now loads up right away. He is now letting me pick up his front feet but I think he still thinks "lady why do you want to look at my feet?" He needs some conditioning and toning up and he needs about 100 to 150 lbs in my opinion. I think next year he will look terrific. He is out of a local champion but was never registered. Stallion owner will give me breeder's certificate to get him registered and I may do that next year. Thanks for looking at my new boy...looking forward to working with him...he isn't Red and my heart still longs for him but I will learn to love this boy!
The bottom picture is from a few years ago when he was in good shape. He has just been in a pasture and dragged up every now and then to ride. Poor guy was kinda startled when I hugged him. He is not used to being petted or loved on but he is getting used to it!
