Ricci was being her usual goofy self, prancing around and trying to spin, and Gracie being the saint she is just stepped back and tried to get out of the way. We got to the road Ricci and I usually gallop down, Ricci was being her goofy self, and again, Gracie just stayed out of the way. A UPS truck was coming down the road, so we got out of the way, and Gracie stood there and watched the big monster truck drive by without flicking an ear, even while Ricci was, again, being her goofy self.
So we walked down the road, turned around and walked back. Then, I decided to experiment. I asked Ricci for her super collected canter, the one that's slow enough I could keep up if I were walking next to her, and slow enough for Gracie to jog along with. It was a TOTAL SUCCESS! Ricci was doing amazing, she always collects way better on trails, and actually gets off her forehand, and Gracie just trotted along next to us, ears perked, happy as can be.
I just had to share! I had such a bad night last night, and I got up this morning and my girls were amazing, and I'm just so HAPPY with them! I'm really looking forward for summer, so I can start taking Gracie on more trails and go up the hill and just be able to spend time with both of them.
I want to know about your ponying success stories. =]
