We just got back from a horse camping trip this weekend to Stiles creek cabin. We rode in 8 miles friday on very wet, rough trail...took a wrong turn, and spent and extra mile in the swamp! Yuk...Saturday it cleared up and we rode 22 miles of trail. Sunday, we rode the 8 miles out, but the trails had dried up, so it was much easier. We took the horses swimming in the lake by the parking area when we got back to the trailers (I will add pictures when I get them off my friend's camera). On the way out, we had to dally rope to the horns of two of our horses (Dez -paint and Dusty-palomino), and pull our six wheeler full of supplies out of a muddy rut in the trail...they were great...saved the day :) :)
The horses (except dusty and splash-the pintabian) were all very tired by the end of the weekend, but I think they really enjoyed the break from showing and arena training. They all enjoyed a good roll in some loose gravel after we took them swimming to remove all the mud from their bodies.
