We have a new place to ride

I just got an "equestrian membership" to a local hunt club. A trail buddy is the president of the hunt club and we rode there once with him and he started this type of membership because we wanted to ride there! It is 13,000 acres with dirt roads like a maze, canals, little creeks, a working oil platform and the occasional oil truck going through the forests. We can ride any time except for hunting season of course. We rode there yesterday and we have had massive rain here. Some of the roads were under water for 100 yards or more - over knee deep water and some places almost up to my hubby's geldings belly. Loads of rocks have been dumped in some places to help the trucks get through so it was rough going in some places for our horses but they did great.

It is only 29 miles or so from the barn so it is close enough to go every weekend. We are planning a ride next Sunday out there and I am excited about having a place to ride that is close. The weekend after that we are going up to a state park for a total weekend riding. Woo hoo....I hope the weather holds up!
