HELP, Western Pleasure/Trail/Hunter???

Hi there,
Im from Australia, and have rode English my whole life.
But I now have a young Australian Stock Horse that I thing would excel at western pleasure, trail classes, hunter under saddle, showmanship.
Thing is i know nothing but western things,
firstly CAN i use him, ? he doesn't have to be a particular breed?
how do i start ? I know of a very high up lady in western that i can get lessons ?
any help would be appreciated
Thanks :)

Don't see why not! If they'll do it in a snaffle they'll do it in a curb.

There is nothing wrong with trying many disciplines with your horse. It makes for a better, well-minded horse. At our barn, we are a trail/reining barn, but we do a little bit of everything, including WP, barrels, dressage...Horses are happiest working when they have variety in their life. So if you are interested in trying and training in that area, go for it. Your horse may not be the best horse in that discipline, but they can sure learn it.
