You may have a 20,000 show saddle and a 5,000 show jacket, but most people forget its based on the horse, and the rider :)
I have personally heard that Dale Chavez saddles are very uncomfortable.
Right now, people are just wearing buttoned down shirts from places like Express, they are nicely tailored cotton shirts.
As for the saddle, try tack trader
Good to know. I have my first show this weekend and am torn on what to do in regards to the shirt. My friend has some older show shirts (the sparkly slinky ones) but I was wondering if it would be better to go ahead and get a nice solid colored tailored shirt that would match my pad perfectly. Hmmm... decisions decisions. LOL.
Dang! Guess my Appy & I don't have much of a future in WP, although I think my $2.50 T-shirt really sets off my big belly & bifocals! I think it is the way the white stitching Wal-Mart put on the shoulder seam kind of draws the eye from my waist to my glasses...
Sure it can be done. I show AQHA, just got back from a week long AQHA show in VA; all the Congress and World Show winners were there. You don't have to shell out tons of money to "look" the part. My show saddle is a used custom Cascade Saddlery show saddle; made by a saddle maker than worked for Phil Harris. He left Harris and started his own business. My show clothes are custom made by a designer I have used for 12 years and I have never paid over $400 for a blinged out SMS suit, or custom chaps etc. You have to do some research and find the best bang for your buck, but with quality as the top priority. It CAN be done on a budget.
We had tried to contact Horse Forum about correcting this, but no one got back to us; unfortunately the comments "GotaDunQH" made about our saddles (Casecade Custom Saddlery) were not true by no fault of her own. Our saddles have never been made by anyone working for Mr. Phil Harris or his company. We are very proud we are able to make a quality, well carfted saddle and are very pleased you like it! We do encourage people when in unfamiliar circumstances to call the manufacturer directly, that is what we are here for; to answer your questions! Please always feel free to ask.

I was told this by my trainer who has bought many saddles from you, sorry for the error!
