I moved my horse last week to barn that is just filled with activities. The have breed shows open shows, kids shows, gymkhanas and rodeos. I haven't really done much with Sienna in the last three years, a lot of ground work, a lot of grooming, or moseying her around for fresh grass, sometimes just sitting in her pasture watching her. I mean I have ridden her and she's quite ridable, but she's a Morab and can be 'hot.' I'd like to work with her this summer on her reining, sidepassing, things like that and maybe before the summer is over put her in a show or two. She'd actually make a good barrel horse or reining horse, is very quick and has a low center of gravity because of her build. I'm just not sure at my age if I want to do that stuff again.
She has a nice little jog when she gets over testing me and has worked on sidepassing in the past, etc. but she's a hot +lazy horse, LOL and when cantering likes to drop her inside shoulder and cut corners. My point is although I intend to work on all these things, I really don't want to start showing her because I want to win anything, or get caught up in the competition thing since I did that when I was younger. I just want to have fun and 'show' her off because I'm so proud of her and how good she is now compared to 3 years ago. I'd like to some in hand showing too but I've been away from all this for so long, I don't even know if they do that anymore except breed shows. Am I crazy? Does anyone else show for fun instead of competition?
