Question Western Pleasure Saddle?

In your opinion, which Western pleasure saddle do you think is the most comfortable and fairly priced?

So looking forward to the day when I can afford to buy a Harris saddle, but that's not going to happen any time soon. Dale Chavez makes a good looking saddle too, but I've never sat or ridden in one.

It really depends on the price range you're looking in though. Even used, Harris and Blue ribbon saddles will still set you back several thousand dolalrs.

There's so many brands out there these days, it's hard to tell them apart. Best bet is to just sit in as many as you can, look at the quality of the actual saddle, and not the brand.

There have been brands where I sit in one of their saddles and I'm in heaven, the next I feel like I'm riding on a fence.

Stay away from Dale Chavez's. No resale value and I found mine extremely uncomfortable.

You're better off to spend more on a good brand with basket weave and not a lot of silver. Versus a cheap brand and lots of cheap silver.

Yep...and add Circle Y to the list; no resale, cheaply made and difficult fit as most are semi QH bars. I'd much rather find a used saddle in the brands I mentioned earlier, and you can find them for under $3K.

Hmm, perhaps that's been my problem. I'm too attracted to the bling!

Most of the ones I've seen for Harris and Blue Ribbon were 4,000 and up. But I just took a peep at the Blue ribbon website and they did have a few under 3k. As for Bob's, I've seen several nice used ones for less than 3,000 but most of them were reiner models.

I haven't seen a lot of used Harris saddles in general (at least not online), but the ones I have were pricey.

What's your opinion on Silver Mesa?

Found this Blue Ribbon on tack trader. It's a GREAT price TackTrader Item ID: 422201 - TackTrader.com Classifieds

I haven't seen enough Silver Mesa's to comment.

Billy Cooks are decent saddles. They're what we rode in while I was on the equestrian team. I liked them enough to buy one for myself, but it doesn't fit my pony very well

Apparently you've gotta watch out for them though. Some are manufactured in Texas and the others in Oklahoma. The Texas ones are supposedly not as high quality as the ones that come out of Oklahoma.
