I don't ride wp, but I still keep it interesting. I have a very busy minded horse so I love change.

Lunging, trail riding, sometimes i'll toss in some showmanship, rail work, trot poles, canter poles, I love transition work. Change is good!

I have a wp horse that I'm turning in to an all around. We do all kinds of things. I also make sure he gets time off, and I let other people ride him. If there is a lot of time before my next show, I give him a week or two off. I let him just be a horse for a while. He usually works really well when I get on again.

I try to incorporate pole work every couple of rides. It keeps my guys tuned up for the trail class and gives their minds something to do. Lope overs, back thrus, turn arounds, all kinds of mental stimulation. Any of course the occasional trail ride or reservoir swim :]
