THEAQHAGIRL- no it didn't happen to that boy. That was another horse that did that to him before I bought him. The tail cutting happened a few years ago to three of my other horses.

:-/ man my filly has enough tail for two or three horses and it's white to boot; I'd love to offset the cost of hay any bidders on a humanly sourced tail? Ha ha, jk

Why is the white hair more valuable?

Its mainly because less horse have white tails in the APHA/AQHA circuits.

I know some APHA owners who have a horse with a white tail and the body color is just chestnut and white. So instead of buying a white tail they bought a chestnut tail. Looks like the two colors blended in perfectly.

I really don't like the look of a thick fake tail. I think it looks ridiculous. Then, when it gets tangled around their legs because the tail is "blocked" and they can't lift it into a natural position, well......

Let's just face it - you either love or hate the stock horse industry. Especially western pleasure - you don't like fake tails, too much silver, too much sparkle, the horses move too slow, too many politics, can't wear a helmet, too much this, too much that.

I feel much the same way about Dressage. Can't have sparkle, can't wear this, can't wear that, you have to have this saddle and this color, you have to braid your horse every day, you have to have this posture, you can't call Dressage movements "Dressage movements" because everything originates from other disciplines, some Dressage people are snobby, Dressage horses cost too much money, could I go on? Point me to the nearest "rag on Dressage" thread and I'll be right there with them. Oh wait, I don't care, because I don't show Dressage...

:) I just hate it when the discipline I love gets picked on so much.

I don't mind them if they are done well. I can't stand seeing them when they are lesser quality or tied poorly and anytime the tail moves you see the disconnect between real & fake.

If I need one in the future I have a hairstylist friend that thinks it would be fun to do a weave on a horse so she could make a horse butt her portfolio cover
COWCHICK77 and twp like this.
