advice for beginner?

Hi! I am going to be learning how to lope/canter soon, probably on a lunge line. I am fine with posting when trotting, but I am a little nervous about loping. I will be riding my friends horse and she will be helping me since I am not allowed to take lessons. I am looking for advise before I start cantering to help me be a little more sure of my self.

Thanks!

Well, you have a nice friend who is helping you. Do you trust her? She wont' let you get hurt, right?

So, if you trust her, then you want to trust the hrose. He's been loping all his life. He knows how to do it, even if you don't . So, let him do his job. Even if you aren' "pretty" doing your job , just focus on relaxing and LETTING him carry you. He knows how to do it. Trust him.

I do trust my friend and the horse. My friend says that learning how to canter is easier than posting.... but I feel like posting looks easier. What do you think?

I think once you have done it, you will want to skip trotting altogether :) Its a very smooth ride.
