Default Arena Question

We are currently planning to put in an outdoor arena. I run barrels and need to know basic dimentions for it. We can't put in the 100' x 200'. What is the minimum size that I could run barrels in without being too cramped? I think the longest side could be at 100'. Would that be enough?

I would do 100 by 100 then because a standard barrel pattern in the WPRA is as follows: 60′ from the score line to the 1st and 2nd barrels 90′ from the 1st to the 2nd barrel 105′ from the 1st and 2nd barrels to the 3rd barrel This is a large pattern and many times it won’t fit in smaller arenas. So i would make it as large as you can

An arena is great but the best thing for your barrel horse is to stay away from the arena and especially barrels in between shows. Once you have your horse patterned it's just a matter of being able to keep thier shoulder up and change leads between barrels so flying lead changes and half passes/ two tracking are much more valuable than running the pattern every day. Make the arena as large as you can afford to.
