Had a GREAT Lesson

Today's lesson was the BEST I've had so far. I rode Milly, she's a QH and they call her the metro because she's one of the slowest horses on the farm. lol

There were a lot of people at the stable today, so there were other riders in the arena with me, so that was good, I got to work on my passing. We started out at a slllllllllllow walk. Last week thats all we did, so I was really ready for more. Milly is one of those who is lazy, so keeping her in a gait other than walking was/is difficult. Anyway, I got Milly to work into a jog, but was having a hard time keeping her at an easy smooth jog, until my instructor taught me the how to ask her to lower her head. After that, I was thoroughly enjoying her jog. I was able to keep Milly at a jog several rotations around the arena, thats HUGE for me... Really, it is! :D

I was pretty content with how my lesson was going, and I was feeling SUPER confident, so I decided I'd try my hand at a lope. It's hard to get Milly into a lope, and at first I mistook an extremely hard jog for a lope. lol But I did it........... I LOPED.............ON PURPOSE EVEN! I am just thrilled with myself. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, and really the hardest part of the lope is just getting the horse into that gait. After I had stopped Milly, I was like "Is that it?! Thats what I was afraid of?!" Seriously, I feel like such a huge pansy.

But, I am so proud of myself.... Nothing like a great lesson to help get everything else in your day in line. wow... YAY ME.

Now, I must go ice my butt, as I ended up riding for like 90 mins.

Sounds exactly like me. :)
I remember the first time I loped it was like my 3rd lesson. My instructors like "do you want to try a lope?" and my response was "are you sure thats a good idea?". It's alot easier than I thought it would be. :D

Ya I remember my first lope, it actually happend by mistake. I was trottin and all of a sudden she started lope and i was like "what the heck is this!!" " THIS IS FUN!!", it was only for a few seconds but it was great.

Lopin is very fun, but it gets challenging when you ride different horses. I can sit the lope on other horses, but on nana i have trouble sittin her canter.

i am so proud that you did so well.

GREAT JOB MOXIE FOXIE!!!

I bet in couple lessons you'll be willing to lope all the time! :D It's so much fun (on good horse).
