Angry I was SO mad!

Okay, so this is a little rant about a show that I was in last tuesday.

SO, every other tuesday there is a local show, and a lot of people come to it. Probably around 60 plus riders. This tuesdays show was canceled because of a big storm that was moving in. So me and my 2 friends along with about 6 or 7 other riders, were like, wow! The last 3 shows we went to were cancled because of the rain, so we were going to stay at the arena and set up the barrels, and just mess around. We did. There was probably 8 of us altogether that stayed at the show, and just wanted to mess around with our horses and whatnot. It was raining, but not so bad that the arena was unsafe to ride in. We all decided we were going to ride one at a time, and time eachother on our runs. So we all picked a number and made an order we were going to run in. Rider one went, then rider two, ect.

All of a sudden, these two girls (call them A and B) get on there horses and cut right in front of all 8 of us, and run there horses SO hard around the barrels. We were all like, eh, whatever. They probably just didnt know we had an order going or whatever. So when rider A got back into the gates (acting like she was leaving the ring) One of us starts to head for the gate to run the barrles, and SURPRISE! Rider A Wipes her horse back around and shoots out of the gate again back into the arena to run her horse. She did this for about, 6 to 8 minutes. Without stoping.

Being the person that I am, I walked my horse right out into the arena to rider B and said, 'Did you not see all of us over there waiting to use the barrels that WE set up?!?!' And she said, 'These two horses are perfessional barrel racers, and once they get going you can not stop them.' So I said, 'Sure, but in an actuall rodeo, you run one 15-17 second run, and you are done. So why is she going non-stop?' Rider B said, 'Whatever..She will be done in a second.' I walked away.

Then about 10 minutes later, of course rider B had to run now. I was SO pissed off at this point, because WE were the ones to set the barrels up, WE were the ones to ask permission to USE the arena, and WE were the ones who just wanted to have some fun with our horses. My mare was getting pretty inpatient, so me and one of my friends decided to just walk our horses around the arena, along the rail. Rider B rode her horse at a full out gallop twards us, and stopped about 3 feet away from us, and scared the living sh*t out of my horse. and sidestepped right into the fence and scared herself more. By this time about 20 minutes of us waiting to use the arena had gone by, and eventually they left and we got to use the arena.

I know I may have been rude, but I personally did not agree with what they did. And then after they ran there horses very hard, they did NOT cool them off at all. Just took off there tack, and through the horses in the trailer and left.

ergggg. Sorry for the novel, but I just had to share!

What would you have done in this situation???

There is ignorance and a lack of courtesy everywhere.

I get a little vindictive at times and if that was happening to me I would have walked over to the barrels and put them back where I found them. If they want to run, let them do it with their own labor.

As far as running their horse one time after another, try to remember the horses and if they ever come up for sale, avoid them.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just explaining why I'm right.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

It's not always what you say but what they hear.

^ Thank you for saying I handled it well. I was SO ready to blow up it wasnt funny. But I figured I would be the better person by walking away, and not saying anything else.

I would have done the same as iridehorses and just hopped off my horse and rolled the barrels back to where they came from.

^ yeah I didnt even think about doing that. My dad was there watching me and he had never seen my horse before until then, (he lives far away) and so I didnt want to make a big scene about it. Thats why I think I held back a little. ha

I'm not sure I would have wanted to be in there, ON MY FEET, trying to roll barrels out of the arena, considering they simply raced in and started running the pattern...

In an instance like that, I'm not sure there's much you can do, other than just tell them to knock themselves out, because they weren't going to listen to you anyway...why bother, and why get so worked up about it? Everyone knows these kind of rider's exist...

The reason I got so worked up about it, is because usually everyone that goes to this show is SO nice and caring, and these dumb girls just ticked me the right way with this whole thing. THATS why i am so bothered.

Just remove the barrels (on your two). I'd do that, frankly (I don't care about yelling much). I know what you feel though. We have similar people on team penning sometime - very ignorant and may just fly pass you, or run almost into you and such. One did it right next to my tight to the trailer horse (thank God she was not very scared and didn't try to break a halter and run). I wish she'd kick out and get them, because that would be a pretty good lesson NOT to behave as an a...s.
